Black and white jacquard woven portrait of Empress Eugénie of France (1826-1920). Lower half of the portrait is ornamented with sprays of roses, an escutcheon and a ribbon that reads "Eugénie Imperatrice." At the lower left and right are the woven signatures "Carquillat Tex." and "Bruyas del." Woven by Michel-Marie Carquillat (d. 1884) after a portrait by Marc-Laurent Bruyas (1821-1896).
