Encased Double Overlay Cut Basket with Concentric Millefiori Mushroom Paperweight

This unusual paperweight has an internal millefiori concentric mushroom design encased in four layers of glass, in order: clear, white, red and clear. Encased cut double overlay paperweights are very difficult to create because of the multiple heating and cooling processes involved in their construction. This factor, along with the limited production by its English maker, make this paperweight a particularly rare example.
