CITIZINS is a Ghanaian-American visual artist, whose art includes graphic design, illustration, photography, painting and textile design. Raised in South London and Northern Virginia, his art is inspired by Africa’s global conscience and casually displays the continent’s essence in every image. Each piece captures the beauty of Africa and provocatively displays American popular culture, while still leaving much to the imagination. As a child of first generation African immigrants, his West African roots are present in each of his paintings, merging with the experience of being Black in America. Exploring everything from Hip-Hop, Reggae, Ancient Egyptian art, and Asante Adinkra symbols, his diverse cultural background shapes to his artwork. CITIZINS' body of work has been showcased internationally from New York to Washington, DC and London, UK to Accra, Ghana. "it pains to see a great nation killing its own future." - Citizins
