The composition is utterly minimalist, consisting of a single, uniform rectangular surface that fills the frame. There are no distinct focal points, rather the eye is encouraged to softly wander across the subtle variations of the surface of this endsheet. The color palette is dominated by a warm, subdued cream or light beige, punctuated by irregular, organic patches of a slightly darker, aged brown or ochre.The lighting is even and diffused, resulting in a flat illumination without prominent highlights or deep shadows, allowing the paper's intrinsic qualities to emerge. There are no hard lines; instead, a faint, consistent pattern of vertically oriented parallel lines, characteristic of laid paper, provides a subtle linear structure. The texture is largely smooth but reveals this underlying ribbed quality, along with the soft, blotchy texture of the discolored areas that suggest the wear and passage of time on the fibrous material.
