Fanny Brawne was given this ring by her beloved Keats sometime during 1819. While it was thought inappropriate for her to marry someone with little money and poor health, this ring symbolised a secret engagement. The almandine garnet set within gold scrollwork is inexpensive, yet Fanny treasured it until her death in 1865.
