"Friendship between Enric Morera (Barcelona, 1865-1942) and Santiago Rusiñol (Barcelona, 1861 - ARanjuez, 1931) was growing and their ties towards Sitges became increasingly narrow, one of reasons was the musician’s wedding with the villager Maria Riera. Both shared their enthusiasm for “religious music” as a synthesis of all the arts. So, that’s why the portrait that the painter did is like a tribute or a presentation letter that was exhibited, still unfinished, the opening day of “La Fada” in the Prado Casino in SItges.
Significantly, the selected scene shows master Morera conducting the men choir of the New Catalonia Society, recently founded."
