Note: Layne Nielson, Gernreich’s Assistant Designer, and designer of this hat, wrote the following in 2007: "The hats I made for Channing had to be shaped on wood blocks custom carved to her head size-24", which cost several hundred dollars each while the hats themselves were only about $50 or $60."
