Ensemble of cape, skirt and T-shirt. Cape and skirt: neoprene with cotton, bodice of cotton double-faced knit fabric. Label: MARTINEZ LIERAH.
The designers Daniel Lierah and Arturo Martínez are very much of their time, in that their work reflects a keen interest in the use of new materials and the latest technology and the pursuit of new silhouettes. The ensemble shown here is a good example of this, made as it is in a material primarily intended for other uses, neoprene, which is exceptionally flexible and adaptable to the natural forms of the body, yet also has a degree of rigidity. For all its flexibility, it always returns to its original shape without deforming or wrinkling. These qualities of the material, together with the designers' researches into form, result in an ensemble that draws together the gamut of concepts presented in this catalogue: a silhouette that is anatomical and at the same time artificial and geometric, creating a balance between fluidity and structure, the anatomical outline of the natural shapes of the body, especially with the short tight skirt leaving the legs fully visible, and the geometric rectangle artificially modifying the shape of the body with the asymmetric cut of the outer garment covering the torso, sleeveless but draping the arms, down to the ground on one side and to just above the knee on the other, with sleeve-like straps on the inside to pass the arms through. The set is completed with a knitted top cotton very soft. The collection to which this outfit belongs ranges in tone from black, as to here, to navy blue and beige.
