This art work is part of a rare cycle of Bohemian embroidery in gold and polychrome silk depicting stories from the life of St Vigilius. The cycle of embroidery was commissioned by Prince-Bishop Georg von Liechtenstein (1390-1419) on the occasion of his episcopal ordination (1391) to decorate a superb dark blue velvet vestment. In this case, the representation includes Entombing of Saint Vigilius inside Trento Cathedral; Delivery of the Acts of Saint Vigilius.
