St. John and one of the Elders have begun to carry the corpse away. Mary Magdalene kneels at right, the Virgin sits at left. Two persons are at left in the middle ground. Verso: The Virgin sits at the opening of the cave. The dead Christ leans against her right leg. A woman kneels at right, at left Mary Magdalene holds the right hand of Christ. In the left middle ground are St. John and the two Elders around the sarcophagus. One of the latter supports the urn with the water of the washing. Framing crayon line.
