The glass walls on each side of the entrance hall ensure dialogue and urban continuity between the inside and the outside whilst emphasising the theatre’s place in the life of the city. The entrance itself, composed of three revolving doors, marks the invisible boundary between exterior and interior.
Drawn towards the reception desk by a deliberately low ceiling, visitors catch a glimpse of the massive shiny black shell of the main auditorium suspended in a volume measuring more than 30 metres high. To gain access to this auditorium, located three floors above, members of the audience make their way via escalators, gangways and perforated aluminium platforms with ship’s rails inviting them “on board”. They finally enter the “ship” through double doors hung with bright red silk: the sign that they have embarked on their voyage of the imagination.
