In October of 2018, Orange County Library System hosted StoryCorps, a non-profit which provides people across the country with the opportunity to record and preserve the stories of their lives. Archiving the wisdom, experience, and cultural history of participants for the use of future generations.
During these recordings, local artist Thomas Thorspecken illustrated each of the subjects with pencil and watercolors.
For nearly two decades Erica Lee (61) was the voice of morning drive time radio in Orlando, as the co-host of Scott and Erica in the Morning on Mix 105.1. In her position Erica was an outspoken champion of child literacy, and she continues to be an advocate as the President of the Friends of the Orange County Library System.
Nancy Milliron (63) is a Media Specialist at Orange County Public Schools. Her relationship with Erica began when she invited Erica to volunteer at a celebration of literacy event. Their friendship developed quickly over the mutual experience of relocating from New Jersey, and a passion for reading.
