Erminia nurses the wounded Tancredi

It's a painting taken from Tasso's "The Liberation of Jerusalem". In this scene Erminia, accompanied by Vafrino, discovers the lifeless body of Argante and, not far away, the one of a Christian knight. After removing his helmet they discover that it's Tancredi, who is portrayed here in the moment of his awakening. The painting, together with "Rinaldo in Armida's garden", are part of an extensive series of allegories of love that were inspired by "The Liberation of Jerusalem", printed in 1581.
