Autochrome portrait of Ernest Doty Ivy (1871 - December 26, 1928), a Lieutenant in the Krewe of Rex. He is seated and wearing a Mardi Gras costume that includes a Rex ducal decoration, black riding boots, long black gloves, cape, wig, hat, and mask. Mr. Ivy was a native New Orleanian and lived in the city all his life. He was the manager of the Otis Elevator Company and lived at 1910 Milan Street at the time of his death. He was a Mason and member of the Knights Templar, Shriners, Elks, The Chess, Checkers and Whist Club, the Louisiana Club, and several other Carnival organizations.
