Emmeline Pankhurst, the leader of the Suffragette movement in Britain being re-arrested on 26 May 1913, at the garden gate of Ethel Smyth’s home in Hook Heath, Surrey. Ethel Smyth shields Emmeline Pankhurst with an umbrella. This striking image is from the CD sleeve notes of 'Ethel Smyth: Mass in D' (ironically released on 'Virgin classics'...) in the British Music Collection.
A BBC Radio 4 programme on cassette is available in the archive entitled 'A Victorian Rebel' Ref: BMC/RE/114966
