Stefania Goulioti staged her own version of the third part of Aeschylus’ trilogy Eumenides at Ancient Stadium of Epidaurus. In the ensuing trial, Apollo defends Orestes, while Athena’s tie-breaking vote absolves Orestes, an act that is tantamount to the foundation of both democracy and patriarchy. The Furies ultimately appeased, transformed into Eumenides, “the kindly ones”.
