In this silkscreen scroll, Wallace chose to depict the biblical figure of Eve as strong and fearless. Despite the Bible’s moralizing lesson about sin originating with Eve’s bite of a forbidden fruit, Wallace’s Eve does not appear regretful or ashamed, as she does in other historical artworks. She instead stares straight back at the viewer, with the snake, a symbol of temptation, wrapped around her neck and the infamous apple displayed cheekily within her grip.
