Carolina Muñoz Awad is the winner of the Installation Art category. Carolina is a Fine Arts MFA graduate from Parsons School of Design and is originally from Chile. Carolina’s work Every Forty Two Times, One. refers to bodies, human bodies, where, during a highly contagious pandemis, holding was put into question even more. Overcooked rice was laid over Carolina’s own body, plus compost, cream cheese, construction tape, paper bags, artist tape in the form of a grid, plaster bands, fabric, and sand; something to make you feel held, contained. Instead of climbing, we just want to hang. To feel our weight, to be limited and comforted by gravity.

Hang the sandbags on your body, hang your body on the sandbags, hang your body on the grid; it all gets so mixed up. The size of each module represents the measurements of Carolina’s own body: forty-two centimetres wide.
