The decoration of this lace is representative of the end of the 18th and the first half of the 19th century: the main motifs are located in the lower part of the frill while a smattering of smaller elements animates the upper part. Here the main theme is inspired by the so-called "cashmere" motifs, referring to the shawls of the same name, very in vogue during the Restoration.
