The ewer with its particular peaked spout, of which the museum owns a considerable number, is one of the most important contributions os Spanish silversmiths to the history of silver. Its origins are to be found in Castile, later becoming popular as wellin the Crown of Aragon, Portugal and Mexico; they were usually produced with a matching basin, sometimes wrongly called tray or dish.
