The series Exiliados del imperio de la razón (Exiled from the Empire of Reason), which Martha Pacheco began in the 1990s, is made up by close to thirty oil on canvas paintings that deal with the lonely universe of psychiatric hospital patients. The charcoal drawing part of the MUSA’s collection was one of the first works that gave rise to this series and that displays disturbing images of human beings who suffer social abandonment.
