In her desperate pursuit of her own self LEE Chunwook (1968- ) bestows meanings upon those objects that he has chosen from both her own imagination and nature. It is very clear that a chair, which repeatedly appears throughout her works, is a psychological symbol that has nothing to do with its original functionality as a mere apparatus. The empty unseated chair as the fruit of unyieldingness and calmness is not a rhetoric to trigger some emotional state on the part of the viewer but represents the time and space of freedom of the sort that transcends sociopolitical one in which one can bask in the peace of mind and in quiet hours of meditation and speculation.
