Exlibris or bookplate of Agustín Pedro Justo (Concepción de Uruguay, 1876 - Buenos Aires, 1943), located in the album Ex Libris 2. Justo was president of Argentina between 1932 and 1938. A renowned bibliophile and Americanist, his library was acquired by the BNP in 1945 , in order to rebuild the collections that were lost in the unfortunate fire that the institution suffered in 1943.
The word "ex libris" is a Latin locution that can be translated as "from among the books" (RAE, 2021). These are labels or marks attached to a bibliographic asset in order to establish a sense of ownership. Its form or content displays a symbolic charge that allows knowing aspects of its collectors, such as interests, affinities, trajectory and life history.
