Exlibris -mark of ownership of a book- of General José de San Martín (Yapeyú, 1778 - Boulogne sur Mer, 1850), which was donated to the BNP.
The work tells the story of the new discoveries made in the South Sea in the second half of the 18th century. In this context, European monarchies financed scientific trips to the American continent, especially to learn about the flora and fauna of all regions, carry out cartographic measurements and astronomical observations.
This book was part of the assets looted during the Pacific War (1879-1883), returned to Peru between 2007 and 2017.
