The Slavonic Library owns a valuable collection of photographs taken by Rudolf Hulka (1887-1961). This cooperative official and translator of Ukrainian literature (he translated at least twenty books into English) was also a passionate photographer. After Hůlek's death, the library acquired more than 4,400 individual photographs and 158 rolls of 35mm film, the most artistically and ethnographically valuable part of which was taken in the early 1920s in eastern Slovakia and Subcarpathian Rus. The digitised Hůlka photographs are available on esbirky.cz.
