Extended Space

Boris Ender, along with his siblings Ksenia, Maria and Yuri, was a student of Mikhail Matiushin at the School of Organic Culture in Petrograd/Leningrad. All of them explored organic movement through experiments of “extended viewing”.
Boris Ender is interested in recording the macrocosm and describes how he attains a transcendental relationship with space, while anticipating a return to familiar reality: «I want to return to Earth. Every living thing around me is the Earth», he wrote in his diaries in 1922.
This certain painting was shown, among others, at the Soviet pavilion, at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Venice in 1924.
