The Goethe National Museum is the most renowned of the museums of the ensemble, and is devoted to the presentation and study of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s life and works. It contains an extraordinary treasure – the poet’s residence, replete with original furnishings and collection pieces, which also belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage site. This is where Goethe lived and worked for 50 years, after moving in as a tenant in 1782.
