A swatch of single-sided printed cotton fabric commemorating the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire's 1969 independence day. Côte d'Ivoire gained independence from France in 1960. This swatch features a repeat and a half of the fabric pattern. The pattern shows a large, basic, green map of Côte d'Ivoire outlined in bright yellow. Major cities are listed in white sans-serif text on a blue background over the map in their approximate geographical location. On the western side of the country, "MAN" is written in large capital letters and surrounded by a yellow sun design. Man is a major city in Côte d'Ivoire and was the host of the 1969 independence day celebration. The pattern surrounding the map is a burgundy, yellow, green, white, and blue floral design on a tan background with a floral border pattern on a burgundy background. Burgundy and blue banners are outlined in bright yellow above and below the map and read "7 AOUT 1969" in white text. "Août" is French for August. Three sides of the fabric were hemmed with a sewing machine using white thread. The bottom edge is unhemmed and is the fabric's selvage edge. Printed text along the selvage reads "GRAND TENT icodi IMPRIMÉ EN COTE D'IVOIRE 1937."
