Operation Bernhard was a counterfeit operation conducted in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The goal was to make fake Pounds and Dollars to destabilase British and United States economy. The five Pound notes are considered to be extraordinarily well made, and the Central Bank of England decided to cancel all five Pound notes when Operation Bernhard was discovered.
