The inland areas of Yamagata prefecture serve imoni with beef and seasoned with soy sauce while the Shonai region enjoys their imoni with pork and miso. Imoni-party is often held outdoors during autumn near a river with family and friends to foster friendship while relishing the autumn scenery and imoni.
