Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum

Oxford Botanic Garden and Arboretum
Oxford, United Kingdom

This giant redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum) was struck by lightning in the mid 1990s and subsequently felled. However this sad event has enabled us to confirm the age of our redwoods. By counting the rings we were able to confirm that it was planted around 1855.
