Born in 1934, he trained in the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology (NCAST) where he specialized in commercial art and graphics. Here he was one of the pioneer members of the Zaria Art Society.
In the Family in the Sun, he simplifies the figures into shapes and forms. While the figures are cast in black and white, the landscape behind is cast in red silhouette. His rendition of the scenery gives off a two dimensional effect as he uses shapes and colour to depict a family in the sun.
