The series ‘Famous Restaurants of the Eastern Metropolis’ depicts fifty famous restaurants of the late Edo period. In this print, the kabuki actor depicted in one of his roles was drawn by Utagawa Kunisada, while the entrance, famous food and depiction of the restaurant
were drawn by Utagawa Hiroshige. This particular print depicts a restaurant called Ōgi-ya which was famous for tamago-yaki (rolled fried-eggs).
