  • Viewing Notes: Although he never visited Rome, Pernet became an accomplished painter specializing in Roman scenes. Exploiting the popularity of Piranesi's prints of Roman ruins, Pernet constructed views juxtaposing classical ruins and renaissance monuments based on the Italian artist's prints.
