The name Louis Comfort Tiffany is synonymous with innovative and stunning art glass, from decorative vessels such as this one to stained-glass lampshades and windows. The son of Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of the jewelry and silver firm Tiffany & Co., Louis made the decision to pursue his own creative interests rather than join the family business. Via Tiffany Studios, he experimented with virtually every decorative medium; besides glass he produced mosaics, pottery, metalwork, enamels, jewelry, and entire interior schemes.
