Verona, Italy

Probably coming from an extensive pictorial cycle dedicated to the main Olympic divinities and attributed to Biagio Falcieri (Brentonico, 1628 - Verona, 1703), the four canvases were donated by Giulio and Gianna Prosdocimo in memory of their daughter Franca.
The paintings are marked by a certain classicism courtly manner, the figures express an elegant rhythm between a luministic virtuosity and decorative effects.
Biagio Falcieri, after a first local internship under the guidance of Giacomo Locatelli, moved to Venice to follow the school of Pietro Liberi. Returning to his homeland, Falcieri established himself in the artistic environment of the city until he became, after the death of Locatelli, the most famous artist, monopolizing local commissions for the whole century.
