The prerequisites for the 44 participants, besides the sensational echo aroused by the first edition of the Targa Florio was the 50,000 lire prize for the winner.
Tens of thousands of people from all over Sicily arrive at the edge of the circuit. Vincenzo Florio had a special race course built by the FF SS that took viewers from the Buonfornello station to the stands.
A special telegraph network connected all the crucial points of the car race track and transmitted the positions to the various "steps". On the day before the race, the rain had made the ground in front of the pits impracticale: Florio had a perfect wooden platform built during the night, which turned out to be very fast and functional throughout the race. That year was a real triumph for FIAT. Winner Felice NAZZARO in front of Vincenzo Lancia on FIAT, with an advantage of twelve minutes to an average of 54,086 km, running with incredible precision the first two laps in 2 h 44 'and the other in 2 h 49'. Fabry arrives third with Itala: the foreign cars were once again swept away and this constituted the glove of a challenge that would have always shaken the bends of the Madonie.
