The smaller temple was almost in the middle of the northern part of the Gamzigrad complex. In front of the temple a preserved monumental altar was located. The sanctuary was dedicated to the fostering of the cult of the goddess Cybele – Great Mother (Magna Mater) – Great Mother of the Gods – Cybele, as evidenced by a fossa sanguinis (a blood drain pit), a kind of underground baptistery, the crypt where the initiation into the mystery of this deity was performed.
