The technique for making felt is done by putting wool into some procedures using liquid to give a homogenous texture, the practice was not present in the Americas until the 17 century through Spanish influences.

To make a hat, the felt is steamed so it can be easily shaped into the shape of hat and its brims due the flexibility of the material after getting wet and warm. After drying up, the last touches for the hat are done, some small decorations and curvature of the brims.
