Los Angeles, United States

In this drawing, the German artist Christian Friedrich Gille copied Rembrandt’s Nude Woman with a Snake, which is also in the J. Paul Getty Museum’s collection (81.GB.27). The female figure, squeezing her breast with one hand while holding a large snake behind her with her other hand, has been identified by scholars as Eve.
