The collection of Michelangelo’s models is one of the most precious part of the heritage of Casa Buonarroti. The memory of the “bozzetti”, collected by Michelangelo the Younger, were lost in the Eighteen-century and the works were rediscovered only in the half of the Nineteen-century by Rosina Vendramif, Cosimo’s wife, the last successor of Buonarroti’s family. This figure of female nude has been associated with the figure of the Earth that, together with the Sky, was to be next the marble statue of Giuliano de’ Medici in the New Sacristy and for which Michelangelo had provided the models to Tribolo.
