The matches played between Europe's most famous club, Slavia Prague and Turkish clubs came about through the efforts of the famous ex-Czech footballer and referee Anton Kratky, who lived in İstanbul. Between 13-18 July, the Czech club played matches against Galatasaray, Altınordu, Fenerbahçe and finally a combined Fenerbahçe-Altınordu team, defeating them all by considerable margins. In those days, Turkish clubs would merge their forces to take on foreign teams as it appears on the Pitch with combined teams. Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe were the first to execute this successfully when they combined forces to hand the Czech Slavia Prag Club a major defeat, 5-2 in 1925.

The Fenerbahçe football team of 1923 consisted of Cafer Çağatay, Sabih Arca, Kadri Göktulga, Bedri Gürsoy, Zeki Rıza Sporel, Hasan Kâmil Sporel, İsmet Uluğ, Ömer Tanyeri, Alaaddin Baydar, Fahir Yeniçay and Şekip Kulaksızoğlu.
