Born in Yunyang, Sichuan Province, in 1922, Xu Beihong was an important disciple, founder of New China Art Education, representative of the second generation of Chinese oil painters, and founder of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1950, he was transferred to the Central Academy of Fine Arts as a professor in the Department of Oil Painting. Over the past decades, he has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the cause of Chinese fine arts, including Jin Shangyi and Wang Yidong. In his artistic creation, Dai Ze always follows the principle of realism, and his works have a strong flavor of life and a strong humanistic sentiment.
