Fibula

A silver ring shaped of a hollow, cylindrical pipe, with a hemispherical, striped agate on both ends. The surface is decorated with leaves and foliage, enriched with blue enamel at parts. This jewel type has been known since 2000 B.C. and was made of bronze or iron in the Antique Age. However, there were also versions made of precious metal, decorated with scratched or repousse patterns. This nineteenth century, historicizing jewel was made in an eclectic taste, using various precious metal and stones - most likely for an aristocratic customer.
