Over the door to the Secretary’s Office (Secretarie), a dog guards the corpse of a young man. Behind the dog is a plinth bearing images of fire and a fist.

Additional information:
The dog standing guard by its dead master stands for fidelity, a quality befitting a good town clerk. The fist in the fire represents constancy in the face of physical pain.
