Radio, German field radio device, sekundar-empfanger (secondary circuit receiver) type E 143, timber / metal / plastic / electronic components, designed and made by Telefunken, Germany, 1918. Field radio device in a black stained timber case with dove tail joining and a black plastic front/face plate. There are six dials (controls) at the front and there are four red plastic dials attached above four dials that are marked with increments for functions. Above each dial a metal name plate is screwed to indicate function. A square brass plate is attached to the bottom centre front and it is engraved with three concentric circles and a dial, with broken centre tuning knob, and name plates above and below. On the narrow front side of the box, an opening (now missing its wooden door but with a remnant of the original latch) allows access to the workings. A similar smaller opening with its door and latch complete is on the right hand side edge. At the back several connections for attaching wires, and another metal plate.
