Egisto Fabbri (1866-1933) was an Italian-American who collected Cézannes, purchased the Palazzo Capponi in Florence in 1920. There is still an exhibit there about him and his collection. Some say he sold his Cézannes to purchase the Villa.--Letter from Linda Pacifici, loans coordinator at the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, 5/4/2006, stating that after Fabbri’s death the painting remained in his house and was later sold by his heirs. Also that it was exhibited in 1910 at the first exhibition on Impressionism that was held in Florence at the Lyceum. Harriman’s Gallery opened in 1930 and closed in 1942. The painting was exhibited at The Marie Harriman Galery in November 1939. Perhaps she bought the painting directly from Fabbri’s heirs. Exhibited at Marie Harriman Gallery in November, 1939.
