In the Space Station Processing Facility (SSPF), Jim Pope (background), Logistics Flight 1 (LF1) mission manager, International Space Station and Payload Processing, discusses the Multi-Purpose Logistics Modules (MPLMs) with members of the media. MPLMs are pressurized modules that serve as the International Space Station's "moving vans," carrying laboratory racks filled with equipment, experiments and supplies to and from the Station aboard the Space Shuttle. Reporters were invited to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the launch of the first element of the Station with a tour of the facility and had the opportunity to see Space Station hardware that is being processed for deployment once the Space Shuttles return to flight. NASA and Boeing mission managers were on hand to talk about the various hardware elements currently being processed for flight.
