Beginning in 1988, Kenner offered the Staring Lineup, a series of action figures presenting professional athletes in baseball, basketball, football and hockey. A smaller number of figures represented star players in auto racing, soccer, and golf. Most figures stood about four inches high, and each came with a card detailing the player?s statistics and accomplishments. Young boys collected the figures of their favorite players just as they might collect baseball cards. Hasbro took over the line when it purchased Kenner in 1991. The line continued for another ten years.
