The A. Schoenhut Company introduced the pig figure in 1906 as an addition to its Humpty Dumpty Circus play set. The pig did appear in actual circuses, often performing with clowns. In 1908, Schoenhut released several farm animals, as well as a farmer and a milkmaid, and the pig made a nice addition to this set as well.

Schoenhut made many variations of pigs, with different coloring, glass or painted eyes, leather or carved ears, and full or reduced sizes. This full size, pink pig has painted eyes, leather ears, and a curly black cord tail.
